ABSTRACT DESCRIPTIONS:

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS Pre-conference events are conference-associated events where participants are charged a separate registration fee by the organizer. Pre-conference events will take place on Friday, April 27th and Saturday, April 28th, 2018, and can either be half-day or full-day sessions. Submissions can be on any topic relevant to scholarship in medical education. Events may be in the form of courses, symposia or workshops and have one or more facilitators.

ORAL ABSTRACT PRESENTATIONS Presentations will be 10-minutes each followed by a five minute question and answer period. Oral abstract presentation sessions will be held Sunday, April 29th to Tuesday, May 1st inclusive.
Due to the high number of research abstracts submitted, we are unable to accept works-in-progress.

POSTERS Facilitated Poster Sessions will occur from Sunday, April 29th to Tuesday, May 1st inclusive. A facilitated poster session involves a short (3-5 minute) presentation from each poster presenter highlighting key points from their poster followed by group discussion. The purpose of facilitated sessions is to allow an opportunity for participants to share ideas and insights and interact around a theme addressed by a number of related posters. Please note that there may also be a dedicated poster session, TBD. During the dedicated poster session you will be expected to attend to your poster and be willing to discuss key points with interested conference attendees.
Due to the high number of research abstracts submitted, we are unable to accept works-in-progress.

CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS Conference workshops are 1.5 hours in duration and should focus on skills development, discussion for consensus building and active participation. Kindly ensure that about two-thirds of your conference workshop time is devoted to active participation. Conference workshops will be held on Sunday, April 29th to Tuesday, May 1st inclusive.

EDUCATION RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM The purpose of the Medical Education Research Symposium is to examine a specific medical education research topic from a variety of perspectives. Symposia may feature different facets of the research topic, present alternative interpretations and/or contrasting points of view. This is an ideal opportunity for a group of medical educational researchers with a common interest, to integrate, synthesize and showcase research findings. It is also an ideal forum to present and get feedback on research in progress. Submissions are encouraged from educational researchers affiliated with different institutions sharing a common interest, or from researchers at a single institution wishing to profile a particular stream in medical education research. Sunday, April 29, 3:00-4:30PM.

EDUCATION INNOVATION SYMPOSIUM The purpose of the Medical Education Innovation Symposium is to examine a specific medical education innovation from a variety of perspectives. Symposia may feature a problem and describe different innovative techniques or tools to address the problem, or present alternative teaching methods to what is currently in place. This is an ideal opportunity for a group of medical educational researchers with a common interest, to integrate, synthesize and showcase research findings around a highlighted innovation. It is also an ideal forum to present and get feedback on research in progress. Submissions are encouraged from educational innovators affiliated with different institutions sharing a common interest, or from innovators at a single institution wishing to profile a particular stream in medical education innovation.
